Product updates, tips & tricks

WebSave 1.4.1 brings three improvements to saving web pages as PDF or images:

  • Reliable initialization with async. WebSave now waits until the page’s HTML is ready before initializing buttons. This fixes buttons being missed when the script loads early. Scripts loaded after the page is ready initialize immediately.
  • Support for pages without div elements. Content-mode conversions now work correctly on pages that contain no <div> elements.
  • Compressed HTML uploads. In content mode, WebSave uses gzip compression when the browser supports it, reducing the amount of HTML data uploaded. If compression is unavailable or fails, WebSave automatically uploads the original HTML.

For new integrations or updates, use:

<script src="https://edge.pdfcrowd.com/websave/1.4.1/websave.min.js" async></script>

Existing button configuration and callbacks continue to work without changes.

We have released version 6.7.1 of our API client libraries and version 6.7.3 of our Python client.

Fixed:

  • All API clients: clear previous conversion inputs when reusing a client, while preserving conversion settings and auxiliary files
  • All API clients: improve file cleanup and error reporting after failed conversions and I/O operations
  • Node.js: preserve binary stream data and non-ASCII filenames during uploads
  • Node.js: invoke built-in file callbacks once, after the output file is closed, and keep concurrent conversions independent
  • Go: correctly report PDF conversion failures, output write errors, incomplete writes, and file close errors
  • Java: preserve original error causes and API error details when wrapping exceptions

We have released version 4.6.0 of our WordPress Plugin and 6.7.0 of our API client libraries.

New:

  • HTML to PDF API: addAttachment() — embed one or more local files as attachments in the output PDF (also available in the PDF to PDF and Image to PDF APIs)
  • HTML to PDF API: setConformance() — produce the output PDF at a specified PDF/A conformance level for long-term archiving
  • HTML to PDF API: setTaggedPdf() — create a tagged PDF for accessibility and content reflow
  • Save as PDF WP plugin: new "Attachments", "Conformance", and "Tagged PDF" options

We have released a new version of our WebSave product.

Version 1.3.0

New Features

  • window.WebSave.initButton(element) - Manually initialize buttons added to the page after WebSave loads. Required for single-page applications and dynamically generated content.
    Example:
    window.WebSave.initButton(document.querySelector('.my-button'))

We have released version 4.5.0 of our WordPress Plugins and 6.5.0 of our API client libraries.

New:

  • The error handling system has been updated. This includes revised status codes and messages, as well as the addition of new methods to the error class: getStatusCode(), getReasonCode(), and getDocumentationLink(). The getCode() method is deprecated and should be replaced with getStatusCode().
