Can I use the Save as PDF plugin without a PDFCrowd license?
Yes. The plugin works in demo mode by default, so you can install it and test the button without entering a PDFCrowd license. Demo output includes a PDFCrowd watermark and branding.
What demo mode is for
Use demo mode for the first test, staging checks, and basic evaluation. The plugin is already configured for demo mode after installation.
Demo mode is functional, but it is not intended for production output. It can show the watermark and branding, and the shared demo license can reach its conversion limit.
When you need a license
Use a PDFCrowd license when visitors or customers should receive production output without demo watermarking and PDFCrowd branding.
After you activate a license, the plugin uses your PDFCrowd account instead of the demo license. Generated output uses your plan limits and credits. Layout, page size, missing content, and similar conversion settings still need to be configured separately when your page needs them.
Which license to use
The WordPress plugin uses a PDFCrowd license for plugins and integrations. Use the pricing page to choose a plan based on expected usage. For how credits are counted, see How do conversion credits work?.
A PDFCrowd license can be used across multiple WordPress websites for the PDFCrowd WordPress plugins.
Activate the license in WordPress
In the plugin settings, open the License tab, choose Commercial, and enter
your PDFCrowd username and WordPress key. The key is available in your
PDFCrowd account after signing in.
If the plugin reports a license error after activation, use How to resolve plugin license errors.
