Riverside court upgrade
A safer surface. Better lighting. More time to play.
The Riverside court upgrade is ready for handover. All 36 planned work items are complete, and
the final cost of £46,800 is £1,200 below the approved budget.
Site context: an outdoor court serving a busy urban neighbourhood. Illustrative photograph.
What changed
The playing surface has been repaired and marked
for basketball and five-a-side football. A continuous,
level route now connects the entrance, seating area
and court gates.
Four low-glare lighting units replace the old fittings.
Their timer keeps the court available for evening
sessions while switching the lights off after closing
time.
Two new benches sit outside the playing area,
leaving space for visitors with pushchairs and
mobility aids.
Ready for handover
The final inspection checked the surface, gates,
lighting controls and access route. No open safety
items remain. The facilities team has received the
maintenance schedule and supplier contact details.
The first month will be used to check how the
space performs in daily use. Staff will record surface
wear, lighting faults and feedback from visitors.
The attached delivery checklist records the
documents and equipment transferred to the site
team.

First-month priorities
1. Inspect after heavy rain. Check drainage and record any standing water before the next session.
2. Review evening use. Confirm that the lighting timer matches opening hours and adjust it if sessions
change.
3. Collect visitor feedback. Ask regular users about access, seating and the new court markings.
