Convert to PDF not printing dynamic images (1 reply)

I have a website where am inserting an image dynamicallly using jquery and using jqueryui I move/resize/rotate the image to the desired proportions and position and then convert to pdf. For some reason the convert to pdf doesn't print the image that's been inserted dynamically. Is there any reason why this isn't working? Am using absolute url's for the dynamically inserted image

Hello together,

last time we are using lot of own libs for creating pdfs. Now we found that api. First look was good and now playing around with it.. i found some problems. Maybe it is not flexible enough, or i just dont know how to get it work, or i missunderstood some things. Therefore here some questions:

a) Ist it possible to define a background image per page? (Perfect would be different ones for the first and following pages?) I tried with css print and @page and @page :first and set there background-image as absolute url, but didnt work.

b) can i ignore the page margins in the api call and use instead the @page css definition? Because of the same reason, i want differnet page margins on first and following sides.

c) if b) is not possible, how can for e.g. a "regular" letter defined. On first page, you have the logo, and below the sender, and the recipient and then the text starts.. until 3--4-5-6 pages. I would do the logo as header.. shall the sender and recipient also be done as header?

d) Is there a possibility to create folding marks on each page?

I think that was it for now :) Would be nice if anyone have some answers for me.

Hi folks,

In the free version of pdfcrowd, I'm unable to highlight text that continues across 2 pages. Can someone tell me if this is possible in the paid version without changing the size of the pages settings.

Cookie Permission Requirement is a problem for saving a website with Save as PDF. I have attached a pic of the Save as PDF problem where access is denied. First, a response must be made to the cookie question Y/N.

The New European Cookie Laws are forcing many websites, including American ones, to ask for permission to use cookies. As you may know, many American and English speaking websites are international by nature and will ahve to comply.

Another point, I am logged in when I use Save as PDF, so I am assuming if the the cookie issue is resolved in some manner, Save as PDF will tehn capture the web page as a logged in event.

I cant get the google font to render ? in pdf. I've confirmed the the font family 'Roboto' has the ? symbol but it will not show in the pdf. I'm using the google javascript in the head of the html to load the fonts. Also in the print.css page

Over all very happy with pdfcrowd, Thanks for all your hard work!!!

Having hard time getting both the pdf and printing from browser in FF, IE to be constant. I get my css to render a nice pdf but than the printed page has issues. If I fix the printed page then the pdf suffers.

Is anyone else battling this issue?

Hi, I have an object tag in my html something similar to this

further i have some transparency are where i place another image.

Now when page is printed to pdf it removes the image.

See attached. Actual is what is displayed in the browser.

First of all, thanks for the great API!

I have a problem with the background position of my pages. For my pages I use a svg file as bg at the bottom. When I make a html output, everything is fine, but when I output it to pdf, the bg svg is at the top of the page.

I use this in my css:

background-image: url('bg.svg');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: bottom;

Does anybody knows what the problem is?

Increase PDF generation throughput (3 replies)

Hi,

so we want to generate many PDFs at a time. We can call the api with just one html at a time, but currently it takes about 7 seconds per html. Out html render to one pdf page, they all have the same structure, include the same css and javascript, only images are different for each.

How can we optimize this or get a batch generation?

I imagine we could embed the css and javascript, and even embed the images in the html file to avoid all additional requests pdfcrowd would make. is this recommended? Is there any other way we can get higher throughput?

Hi,
I'm using the free version of the "html to pdf"-api and I'm getting images being split across two pages when producing pdfs from our website, which is a bit weird. Is there a way to set it so the picture is scaled to fit on the first page, or is moved as one to the second page?

First I love "Save Your Site to PDF service!!"

My site has 3 spry tabs on a page. I set up my "PDF" page button using - http://pdfcrowd.com/url_to_pdf/?use_print_media=1 button. Because I want to use my print.css styles to format the PDF.

It only makes a PDF of the first tab (very well I mite add). but not the other 2 tabs contents. Just to be clear I click on # 2 tab and then click my "PDF" and it displays only tab # 1s content.

is this posible to:
1. conver the other tabs to PDF?
2. Have all 3 tab contents on PDF?

Hi everybody !

I've got a little problem, I would like to make a PDF from my HTML but I'm using the CSS3 property "column-count" and "column-gap". But it seems this property isn't supported yet.

So I've 2 questions :
- Is it may possible you include this property soon or not ?
- Is there someone who know another way to do my 3 columns ?

We're trying to use font-face's from webtype.com, but everytime we go to generate our PDF via the api, we wait for 6+ minutes and the process eventually just dies. The Forums say that you can use Google's Webfonts, so not sure why we couldn't use Webtype's.

I know that the time limit is 40 seconds, so i already tried to reduce large images.
Can you please tell me what is the resource that causes the timeout?

height:4093px

but this seems too big

I'm using the PDFCrowd API and it works for all browsers except (wait for it...) Internet Explorer. I've checked versions 8-10, I'm having issues with all of them.

Here's a sample href I'm using, it's the same across browsers so that shouldn't be the issue:

In the past few days we ran into a problem while printing a pdf document that is generated by your system.
The system generates a proper pdf, however once we try to print it inside the browser display it looks strange and non-proportional (and the printing is also strange and non-proportional) . If you save the file and print it outside the browser, it looks (and print) fine.

It is important to mention that no change was made by us in our system and everything went perfectly ok until last week.
Was there any change made by your side? Any version update maybe?

Could you please help us solving this? Your help will be much appreciated.

Attached are screen shots of what we get comparing to what it should look like.

The document that we are going to generate to pdf file is with Chinese font which is 5~20mb. And the other datas are about 70K.
We would like to know when a client generates and download a pdf, what is about the data transfer that our server takes?

How to hide link URLs using no-print (1 reply)

This may seem a strange question, and I have searched but cannot find the answer. I want to do this entirely in CSS if possible.

Preferred: I would be happy to use the no-print css style with the HTML options checkbox "Use the print version of the page if available" selected, BUT.... If I do this, every web link in the PDF shows as e.g. "Fred (../../test/fred.html)" for local links (similar shown for hard coded URLs), i.e. the link is displayed in brackets after the linked item. The link is still active (great!) even though not apparent visually.

I *do* want the link to be active and with the option of formatting (e.g. with colour or underline) as a link, but I just do not want the actual URL to show in the above manner, I would like that hidden. How can I do that?

Alternative: If I create the PDF without the above checkbox selected things are mostly OK, but I would like to be able to define a special style that allows elements to be hidden but ONLY when using your PDF creation tool. Maybe you have a special media query element. Would that or is that possible?
