Hi,

I will try to execute my code before the body onload but it not will be a good solution for all pages. I can have 3 google maps or 15. :-/
It's possible to creat an option in order to generate PDF begin when we call a JS function ? or to set a timeout after the body onload to generate PDF? :-)

Valentin,

unlike the browser, we need to stop JavaScript at some point. We use some heuristics to decide when to abort JavaScript fired from onload. This mostly works, but if the code performs some I/O or if there is a delay in processing, it may sometimes happen that the script is aborted prematurely.

It often helps to do as much work as possible before the onload event (e.g. download all assets), but I'm not sure how much control do you have in this case.

I have a printed page with several google maps.
All is ok except some background images not dowloaded.

It is possible to call a function to start generation of PDF when all background has dowloaded ? or other ?

The Century Gothic font is not installed on our system. The available fonts are listed here. Alternatively you can use the @font-face rule to upload a font.

Hello Malcolm,

the API does not support joining multiple images directly. However, if the images have a public URL you could generate HTML which contains the images and pass it to the API.

Hi

I saw an earlier post where it seemed joining together multiple PDF's from a shoping cart type application is not that easy. Is it possible to join multiple images together using the API and javascript only? (I am limited to the hosting solution i can use and cant install anything).

The client ideally wants to join together multiple PDF's but i guess i could get them to out put as jpegs and these could be joined instead if it is easier?

Style file with in head not being picked up

I am using convertHtml to generate a PDF and have it returned to my application. The page being converted includes the use of in the head section of the page. The style file for the page is based on the base URL being prepended to the style file URL. Example:

When the page that includes this information is rendered the style file is not being picked up/used as expected. Should the style file be picked up and used when the page is rendered?

I do get the page back without error but it has been created without any styling which of course means it is not correct.

to use the "Save to PDF link" on your pages, use the following code:

Please note that there is no url field in the link. As explained above, our service picks up the url from the refererr http header field. In other words, the "Save to PDF link" always converts the current page.

If you want to try out the HTML to PDF API, please start here: https://pdfcrowd.com/html-to-pdf-api/. The API is a different product - it has a richer set of options and lets you convert any url, but usually requires server side integration.

Hi,

in this context it means that if multiple users click to generate a pdf at the same time you should somehow ensure that the individual pdf calls are sent one after another, one at a time, each in a separate http request.

There are different ways how to achieve this, mostly depending on your software stack. Some examples:
- a background task queue having exactly one worker
- a memcached lock

However, as the documentation states, simply resending a failed request (ideally after some delay that corresponds to an average PDF creation time) is perfectly ok.

Re 1: When someone clicks the "Save as PDF link" on your page, our service sends back a PDF created from the URL found in the referrer HTTP header field. There is no option how to alter this behavior.

Re 2: The "Save as PDF link" does not support this.

You may want to take a look at our HTML to PDF API which is a product that is more flexible than the "Save as PDF link" and which could better fit your needs.

We have purchased domain license for Save as PDF link.
Now we are facing two problems...
1) Save as PDF button not working as url getting modified internally using .htaccess rules.. Error we are getting is 'Time out error'.
2) We need to add / include a static cover page in every conversion.

API Rate Limiting

We're currently evaluating pdfcrowd for use in our web application. The API works brilliantly and with the code examples I was generating pdfs in mere minutes.

Looking at the documentation I read in the rate limiting section that you cannot send simultaneous requests, but that you should serialize your api calls. Ours is a multi user application, so there's a significant chance that 2 users may click to generate a pdf concurrently. The suggestion of simply resending failed requests is ok but is a bit wasteful of network traffic if it can be avoided. Just wanted a clarification on 'serializing' your api calls. Does that allow you to send multiple pdf calls in a single http request?

I got it figured out. I needed to include explicit styling for an ol before my content.

My end users are using TinyMCE to generate content, and style it appropriately. However, TinyMCE does not specify styling across the entire document. It generates styling for each tag separately. The way it styles content is it puts a tag inside each

, and styles the span. Because I was not specifying overall styling for the entire page, the list items were taking the default style, which apparently on your server, is set to Arimo.

I'm having difficulty with ordered lists when converting HTML to PDF. The font I'm using for the content is Arial, but the numbers in the ordered list are showing up as Arimo.

I've appended the @font-face css technique to my HTML, but no luck.

Anybody have a suggestion to resolve this?
